Doing what we can to aid the spill response in the Gulf

Friday, April 30th, 2010
Keith

It’s disturbing to see how quickly the oil spill is spreading in the Gulf of Mexico. 70 miles by 130 miles and growing. Our sympathies and best wishes go to the families of the workers killed in the initial explosion at the oil rig, and to those closest to the spill. Millions around the world are anxious about the extent of the damage.

New Pig and our subsidiary companies are supplying cleanup products and exploring other ways to help and learn. I expect to give new information about our efforts next week.

Go inside our top-secret development area (sort of)

Keith

I took this picture in such a way as to give away next to nothing about the state-of-the-art product development area behind world-famous PIG® Absorbents. You don’t get to see in, you only get to see out. I’ve even made the name of the facility utterly indecipherable. Bwah-ha-ha-ha-HAAAAAA.

New Pig donates wipers for Red Cross cleanup kits

Friday, April 9th, 2010
Keith

New Pig did a good thing this week, if I do say so myself, in giving away 35 pallets of our wipers to be used in Red Cross cleanup kits.

If a flood or other emergency has to befall you before you to get to use these particular wipers—then I hope you never get to use them!

Getting ready for a foodservice show

Saturday, March 13th, 2010
Keith

I’ll try to get a report next week from our team who attended the Nightclub & Bar Convention & Trade Show in Las Vegas March 8-10 to show our foodservice products. Sounds like a rough time, huh?

Here’s the booth description from the exhibitor list:

PROFILE
Spills in restaurants cause unsafe conditions and your staff and productivity can hit the floor. Don’t spread the mess around - absorb it! PIG® Absorbents soak up dangerous oil and water spills fast and dry the floor so you can Keep on Cookin. See PIG® Absorbents in action at booth #841.

CATEGORIES

When life hands New Piggers lemons, New Piggers make lemonade.

When life hands New Piggers outrageous amounts of snow, New Piggers do what you see in the video below.

(Watch this twice! Once for the sculpture, once for the clouds.)

You, too? Here’s a quick look at products we carry that are related to snow. Not many items (and one of them is on clearance, hint hint), but talk about drifty … er, nifty.  Click on the captions to see ‘em!

Pork of the future: Much easier on pigs

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
Keith

There’s a saying about breakfast: Eggs are a contribution but bacon takes commitment.

Scientists may change that. They’re perfecting pork made from pig stem cells.

The results so far are squishy and a little low in protein, but promising for hot dogs.

The possible (repeat: possible) environmental benefits are eye-opening. If livestock raising could be cut way back, greenhouse gas emissions, land use and water use might drop by 95 percent.

Of course, there could be other ramifications: Health effects of eating engineered meat will be carefully watched.

At any rate, keep an eye out for specials on lab chops.
